Millennium Resort Mussanah to walk 50km for diabetes

Millennium Resort Mussanah, part of the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and Resorts group, is set to walk 50km this month to mark Diabetes Awareness Month. Affecting more than 26.6 million people* in the Middle East as a whole, Oman is ranked eighth in the world in terms of prevalence rates of diabetes.

A group of 14 members of staff from the Millennium Resort Mussanah will drive awareness of the importance of the diabetes cause by participating in an organised 3.1km walk through Muscat on 25 November, starting in Ruwi. The campaign is part of a wider corporate initiative which sees all Millennium & Copthorne hotels in the region – from Kuwait to Oman - joining together for a good cause.

The figures we see on the prevalence of diabetes in Oman are worrying: this is why we are doing all we can to raise awareness of this condition, so as to allow people to better understand how to recognise and prevent it. By walking for the cause, we believe that we are making a positive step towards change.”

Earlier this year, the hotel also launched a special menu especially developed for diabetes sufferers. The menu is nutritionally-balanced and helps those with diabetes control blood glucose levels, body fats and blood pressure. Including a range of starters, main courses and desserts with hospital-approved portion sizes, the dishes offer healthy options bursting with flavour.
