Ministry of Sports, Oman Football Association Honor Ooredoo for Its Contribution to 23rd Gulf Cup

Under the patronage of his Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, the Ministry of Sports Affairs and Oman Football Association held a ceremony to honour the Oman National Football Team after winning the 23rd Gulf Cup for the second time in their history. During the event that was attended by a range of distinguished guests from Excellencies to Heads of Sports, Ooredoo was honoured for its efforts done to support the National football team.

During the event, all recipients were awarded fantastic products and services from Ooredoo including, smartphone headsets, one year Shahry plans and a one year home broadband packages for the players.

One of the many community-focused initiatives Ooredoo has undertaken included sending a charter flight full of Omani football fans to Kuwait to attend and support their team in the finale. The company also provided the lucky customers with free unlimited roaming data, to share the moment with friends and family back home. 

The 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup was held in Kuwait from 22 December to 5 January. The dramatic final was played out in front of a packed stadium, which saw Oman deadlocked 0-0 with UAE, which was then forced into extra-time and then a penalty shootout, resulting in a 5-4 win.

To date, Ooredoo has partnered with local business, sports clubs and gymnasiums to drive individual and collective growth by raising awareness of health and wellbeing, through a number of events and initiatives. These include the much awaited Summer Sports programme and supporting the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group IV.
