Mouawad shines twice as brightly at Dubai World Trade Centre this week

Mouawad will be showcasing its stunning creations at two major events launching today at the Dubai World Trade Centre - the Dubai International Motor Show and Dubai International Jewellery Week. Each exhibition plays host to a one-of-a-kind record-breaking piece that Mouawad has exclusively designed and created.
At the Dubai International Motor Show, a shared passion for producing the ultimate in luxury has led to collaboration between Mouawad and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Together, the two companies have created a full pavé diamond Spirit of Ecstasy, who today makes her public debut on the opening day of the Motor Show. The legendary flying lady that graces the front of all Phantom and Ghost models has been draped in 2,300 round brilliant cut diamonds of the G colour VS Clarity type in celebration of her centenary year. Three Mouawad master-craftsmen spent over 350 hours laying 38.53 carats of diamonds in pavé, creating a timeless homage for this icon of elegance and glamour.
“Mouawad searches the world for the finest gems to create the highest quality jewellery, and Rolls-Royce builds what is known to be the pinnacle of automotive perfection,” said Pascal Mouawad, Co-guardian of Mouawad. “It is our shared passion for creating the finest that has pulled us together on this venture. Today, we are proud to be able to unveil the famous flying lady wearing her finest ever gown at the region’s premier automotive show with our friends at Rolls-Royce.”
On the occasion of the reveal, James Crichton, Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa said “2011 has been an especially significant year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars as we celebrate the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy. The famous Flying Lady which has adorned nearly every Rolls-Royce grille since February 6th 1911 has inspired owners, enthusiasts and everyone involved with Rolls-Royce throughout generations.”
Commenting on the project with Mouawad, “The treatment Mouawad has bestowed on our cherished mascot highlights the importance the Flying Lady holds with Rolls-Royce connoisseurs. The use of diamonds also embodies the strength of the brand as it is now going through an unprecedented period of growth.”
Another one-of-a-kind Mouawad creation – The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse – goes on display today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, as Dubai International Jewellery Week also opens to the public. The heart-shaped purse, certified by the Guinness World Record authority as the most valuable handbag in the world, is back in Dubai having being admired by jewellery connoisseurs around the globe - from Dubai to Saudi Arabia, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Beirut and Los Angeles. The diamond handbag, handcrafted from 18K gold and incorporating 4,517 diamonds (105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colourless) with a total weight of 381.92 carats, is on sale, with a value of $3.8 million USD as certified by the Guinness World Record Authority.
Mouawad will also be an official sponsor of the Dubai Jewellery Design Award 2011, the most recognised jewellery design competition in the Middle East. Organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre as part of Dubai International Jewellery Week, the competition celebrates outstanding jewellery designers and companies across the Middle East. Mr. Costa El Hreich, Deputy General Manager & Regional Sales Manager of Mouawad, will be part of the judging panel selecting the winners, whose names will be announced during an Official Award Ceremony that will take place tonight at 7pm in the Pearl Lounge – Hall 7.
“Mouawad’s roots are in the Middle East. It was in Lebanon 121 years ago our great grandfather started his jewellery and watch-making business,” commented Fred Mouawad, Co-guardian of the Mouawad brand. “We want to see today’s most-talented regional designers receiving the recognition that they deserve, and to help elevate the fine art of jewellery-making so beloved by patrons here in the region. It is our desire to see local talent to emerge and be recognised alongside the world’s finest designers.”
The Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse and other Mouawad jewellery collections and Objets D’Art, will be showcased in the Pearl Lounge – Hall 7 - at the Dubai International Jewellery Week until Sunday 13th November.
The full pavé diamond encased Spirit of Ecstasy will be showcased at the Rolls-Royce booth – Sheikh Saeed Hall booth no. SSA 18 – until Monday 14th November.
