Msheireb Enrichment Centre hosts seminar on ‘Effectiveness of Risk Management in the Evolving Market’

The importance of risk management within the evolving market in Qatar was the key topic at the annual conference hosted by Msheireb Properties, and the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). The seminar on ‘Effectiveness of Risk Management in the Evolving Market’ was the second annual Risk Management initiative by Msheireb Properties, held on October 16th at the Msheireb Enrichment Centre. The seminar was aimed at spreading awareness and education on the importance of risk management, and to demonstrate how timely management can help mitigate enterprise risks.
In a packed agenda, Rahat Latif, Chairman, IRM Qatar delivered a presentation on ‘Implementing Enterprise Risk Management in a large Multifunctional Organization; while James Portelli, Coordinator, IRM Middle East Regional Groups presented ‘Rethinking Risk Management’. An open forum for discussion and a Q&A session with selected speakers concluded the programme.
C.S. Chandrasekaran, CFO, Msheireb Properties, who spoke at the event, said, “Enterprise risk management is a complex subject which is gaining importance amongst all companies working in rapidly evolving markets, such as Qatar. At Msheireb Properties, for example, we believe that the best approach is to focus on risk assessment and mitigation plans at the corporate, divisional and project levels, in order to address the risks in a timely manner.
“We hope that the excellent presentations from the IRM team helped gain insights on the need to put in place effective risk management strategies and some of the best ways to implement them,” said C.S.Chandrasekaran.
