Nawras Goodwill Journey messengers arrived Sunday evening in Al Batinah to visit the Omani Women’s Association in Nakhal on the second stop of this year’s caring initiative. Volunteers donated sewing machines and household items in support of the Ministry of Social Development’s community empowerment programme to teach vocational skills and develop income generating initiatives within the local community.

Yesterday, the volunteers travelled to Sohar and Daba to donate colouring books, story books and educational multimedia packages to the Omani Women’s Association kindergarten school. Nawras Goodwill messengers spent time reading to the children, sharing the joy that books can bring and highlighting the importance of reading in early education. Much fun was had all round as volunteers took part in a competition and donated prizes and toys for the children before bidding a fond farewell and continuing their voyage.

Speaking at the school, Nawras Goodwill volunteer Buthina Al-Rahbi, taking part in her first Nawras Goodwill Journey, said, “Seeing the joy on the face of each child is what this journey is all about. We are humbled to be able to make a difference by improving the daily lives of some of those who are less fortunate in Oman. The community have been very welcoming and we could see the excitement from a long way away as crowds gathered outside the school. It really is a pleasure to spend time with the people here, talk to them and hear their stories.I am very grateful for this opportunity and it is definitely a life changing experience that I will cherish forever.”

Thuraya Khalfan Al Kindy, Nakhal Omani Women’s Association Managing Supervisor, said, “Goodwill Journey is a truly nice initiative from Nawras to extend their support to the community and families in need specially disabled children and those less fortunate. Our sincerest thanks go to Nawras for such generous donations and for spending time reading to the children.”

This year’s journey follows the theme of ‘Multaqeen’, the promise made by Nawras to the community to ensure projects are implemented and deliver long term prosperity in each Governorate. Today the Nawras Goodwill Journey is traveling to Al Buraimi to meet and interact with local families and deliver household appliances to support social development initiatives in the area.
