Octal Supports Young Basketball Stars in Salalah

In line with its commitment to enrich and motivate the local community, OCTAL signed an agreement with the Oman Basketball Association (OBA) in Salalah to sponsor and open the OCTAL Basketball Center. Under this initiative, young players receive top-notch training for a year, during which time they will take part in various tournaments against other clubs in Oman. The OBA is running the training center in cooperation with the School Sports Committee.

Twenty young players born in 2005/2006 have been chosen for the team after being selected during tournaments. The club championships will be held at the beginning of September 2019 for which, training has commenced. Thanks to OCTAL’s funding, training kits were secured including uniforms, shoes and balls. In a fantastic start to the season, the team won first place in the Salalah Tourism Basketball 3x3 tournament in the under 20 category. Developing and retaining outstanding talent in and out of the workplace, OCTAL also celebrated the achievement of its own corporate basketball team, which also bagged the championship trophy in the same tournament.

Encouraging Oman’s next generation to be health-conscious and engage in fun activities such as this is very important in building well-rounded individuals.”
