15 women from Salalah graduated in the fields of cosmetology and hairdressing from the Art of Beauty Institute sponsored by OCTAL Petrochemicals in partnership with the Omani Women’s Association. The “home salon” model certified by the Ministry of Manpower empowers women from low-income families to establish their own small business enterprises with the advantage of minimizing risks, overheads and operating costs.

“Sustainability in all forms is unquestionably a core discipline that is integrated into our culture at OCTAL,” said Ahmed Al Najjar, Director of Government Affairs at OCTAL. “We firmly support programs that contribute to the economic growth and self-sufficiency of communities and the home business platform achieves this objective through practical knowledge sharing and transfer. The program has a genuinely sustainable component as it builds technical and entrepreneurial capacity of high-potential women from low-income families to overcome economic and social barriers and gain financial independence.”

Mr. Adel Ben Jeloune, General Manager - Art of Beauty Institute stated, “The success of the home salon concept is completely attributed to the overwhelming support received from private-sector organizations such as OCTAL that have a fundamental commitment to improving the quality of life of the communities where they operate. With OCTAL’s backing, we are now able to reach a larger population in the Governorate of Dhofar and remain confident that we will continue to hear more inspiring success stories from women who have benefited from this life-changing experience.”

The 45 day intensive program designed by The Art of Beauty Institute trains and qualifies women nominated by the Omani Women’s Association through developing essential skillsets and imparting strategies and insights required to start, operate, manage and grow their home-based beauty business.
