OMEGA Times the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games
This year’s sporting action in PyeongChang is set to continue as the 12th Paralympic Winter Games get underway from March 9th. Once again, OMEGA will fulfil its role as the Official Timekeeper of the event, in which up to 670 talented athletes from 46 participating nations will compete in 80 medal events.
Until March 18th, OMEGA will be behind the clock in every single sport, just as it has done at 28 Olympic Games. As the world’s premier sports timekeeper, the brand will be deployed across all venues and will rely on its historic expertise and modern innovation to complete the job.
These Paralympic Winter Games, whose motto is “Passion. Connected”, includes elite sporting events for athletes from different disability groups. OMEGA has a long-term partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and OMEGA President and CEO, Raynald Aeschlimann said: “There are so many dreams still to be achieved in PyeongChang and we feel very proud to fulfil our timekeeping role for the athletes at the Paralympic Winter Games. We are certainly looking forward to watching them perform and recording their results for all the world to see.”
Athletes taking part in the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will compete in events from six sports including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, para ice hockey and wheelchair curling. As ever, it will be down to OMEGA to ensure that every result is recorded with unrivalled accuracy.
Innovative watchmaking is the cornerstone of OMEGA’s heritage but it is inspired by sports timekeeping, our conquests of space, our advocacy on behalf of worthy organisations and, of course, our enviable role in support of the world’s favourite spy.
