To celebrate the UAE’s upcoming 42nd National Day, du has launched Opérette By the UAE People – a singing competition organized as part of the ‘Hassantoka Ya Watan’ initiative. The contest – which runs from 11 to 20 November – will see participants go head-to-head for the chance to win AED 10,000 and the opportunity to perform live alongside renowned Emirati artistsMohammed Al Mazroui, Shamma Hamdan and Faysal Al Jassem in the Forum.

Opérette By the UAE People – a song that aims to celebrate the talents of the residents of the UAE – was written by six Emirati poets including Saud Al Kabi, Rashid Bin Ghalita, Saeed Al Katbi, Khalifa bin Musbih Al Kabi, Saeed Bin Tmeshan, and Hamdan Al Mahrami. The music was composed by Jasem and Mohammed Al Ahmed.

In order to participate in the Opérette By the UAE People competition, all contestants need to do is record a video of themselves singing their favorite verse from the song and post it on one of social media channels then upload the link to www.du.ae/nationalday. From there, the judging panel will choose three talented winners on 21 November.

“At du, we have always believed in launching innovative initiatives leveraging new media to drive youth engagement and offer a deeper understanding of the UAE’s local cultural heritage,” said Ibrahim Al Mayahi, Director - Commercial Communications in du. “Through the use of social media, we hope that the riveting Opérette By the UAE People competition will  further popularise young Emirati talents and showcase the UAE’s culture – through the song’s powerful poetic lyrics and melody.”

du has organized a slew of activities and contests in November as part of the ‘Hassantoka Ya Watan’ initiative. These include the Social Media Awards from 4-18 November, in addition to a Forum and a closing ceremony at the end of the activities.

The Forum will include a session revolving around UAE National Day and a Social Media Awards Awards Ceremony honouring the winners.

On the occasion of the UAE’s 42nd National Day, du is also hosting an internal competition that highlights the nation’s historic milestones since its founding. The initiative will underscore current accomplishments and the country’s future vision.
