Ooredoo Goodwill Journey Receives Jubilant Welcome at First Destination
The 13th Ooredoo Goodwill Journey arrived to an excited welcome from crowds of enthusiastic supporters at its first stop in Shinas in the Batinah Governorate. While there, the volunteers celebrated the opening of a women’s gym to promote healthy lifestyles. They also distributed a number of electrical equipment to low income families as part of its commitment to sharing the values of kindness during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Despite not stopping in Al Awabi, Ooredoo the volunteers sent their support to the Wilayat’s branch of the Oman Women’s Association to launch the company’s first incubator this year. The incubator was designed in collaboration with the Omani Women’s Association and the new vocational training facility will help women of all ages in the community learn income-generating skills, empower them to achieve economic independence, and prepare them to start their own businesses.
Setting the Al Awabi Incubator programme up for success, the Ooredoo team presented a range of equipment, including a kitchen for the delivery of catering courses and a salon for the instruction of those interested in becoming hairdressers and beauticians. Also gifted was a computer lab to help develop essential everyday IT skills.
With a focus on the future and creating a long-term impact, the much-admired Ooredoo Goodwill Journey endeavours to make a real contribution to society by supporting His Majesty’s vision to develop local talent, support SMEs and expand the economy. The Goodwill volunteers work in collaboration with a variety of like-minded charitable associations and government organisations to achieve its goals.
