Ooredoo Supports Oman’s Student Innovators for Injaz Al Arab’s Young Entrepreneurs Competition
Helping to boost entrepreneurship in the Sultanate, Ooredoo recently supported Injaz Al-Arab’s 13th Annual Young Arab Entrepreneurs competition. Hosted in Muscat, the event drew 19 teams of high-school and university students from across the region, who competed for the coveted ‘Company of the Year’, ‘Product of the Year’ and ‘Social Impact’ awards. More than 500 people attended the two-day event, including Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Group and Chairman for Injaz Al Arab.
Feras bin Abdullah Al Shaikh, Consumer Director at Ooredoo, said, “Ooredoo has always been committed to developing youth and supporting local talent, and as such, we make it our mission to engage in the country’s top innovation-led initiatives, encouraging young people to actively participate in the business sphere. We are proud to be playing a role in the Young Arab Entrepreneurs competition, and seeing the next generation grow into future thinkers and business leaders, contributing to the prosperity and progress of the Sultanate.”
The annual competition is the culmination of six months of experiential learning and application based on Injaz Al-Arab’s internationally acclaimed Company Program. The winners of the programmes from each nation then enter a four-stage competition, where each team is required to give a business presentation, undergo vigorous interviews with a panel of judges, and showcase and sell their products or concepts.
This year’s support of the Young Entrepreneurs Competition comes as part of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes which aim to build local capabilities and advance the well-being of communities at large.
