Ooredoo Taking Steps to Put Oman on the Map for Internet-Of-Things
Ooredoo has become the first telecommunication member in Oman and the GCC to join the LoRa Alliance, a non-profit association driven to enable the global success of Internet-of-things (IoT). The membership will allow the company to collaborate with other IoT service providers, chip manufacturers, solution developers and other businesses serving the industry’s requirement to push the technology forward. This agreement is another step in Ooredoo’s journey towards making the right investments to the successful implementation of internet-of-things.
Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Wahaibi, Chief Business & Wholesale Officer at Ooredoo said, “By 2020, it is predicted that there will be almost 31 billion connected devices. Creating a global membership across 41 counties, it acts as a forum for collaboration opportunities and sharing experiences to enable the success of the LoRa protocol, LoRaWAN™.
