Oryx Rotana Donates to the Families Affected by “Taal” Volcano Eruption in the Philippines

Under Oryx Rotana’s Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella, and to highlight the importance of volunteering and humanitarian work towards communities in distress around the globe, the hotel organized a donation drive for families affected by the eruption of the "Taal" volcano in the Philippines.

The donations collected were shipped in early February. During the campaign, the hotel’s staff gathered some of basic necessities like: blankets, toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, cup noodles and many other that aimed to help the families affected by this natural disaster.

On this occasion Mr. Ghassan Dalal, General Manager of Oryx Rotana said:” We arranged an internal campaign to donate for families affected by the eruption of the "Taal" volcano in the Philippines, where thousands of people are in need of support. The donation drive stems out from our belief of giving back to the community and we at Oryx Rotana Doha have always reiterated on the importance of volunteerism and social responsibility towards global events”

The eruption of the volcano caused the displaced of more than 162 thousand residents who were forced to flee their homes and not return due to the risk of a larger eruption that still exists. The "Taal" volcano, which is 311 meters high, is one of the smallest volcanos in the world, and at the same time the second most turbulent of the 24 active volcanoes in the Philippines.
