PepsiCo-Jordan, winner of the 2009 and 2011 King Abdullah II Award for Excellence, celebrated Eid al-Fitr with around 200 children from several of the Kingdom’s orphanages at Zaha Cultural Center for the fifth consecutive year. Since it was first organized in 2008, the day-long event has grown to become an annual Company tradition through which PepsiCo-Jordan directly engages with the nation’s orphans to spread the joy of Eid.

Held on the second day of Eid al-Fitr, the fun-filled event involved the participation of PepsiCo-Jordan employees’ children. The day’s entertainment included plaster painting, games and competitions, face painting, balloon shaping, a special Eid lunch and gifts for the children.

“PepsiCo-Jordan’s annual Eid tradition is our way of staying involved with orphans and making sure that they receive the same opportunities during Eid al-Fitr as their peers. As part of our overall social responsibility programs, we pay special attention to supporting orphanages, promoting social solidarity and strengthening community ties,” said Eng. Nidal Hamam, GM of PepsiCo-Jordan.

Background Information

Pepsi Cola International

In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.

For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
