As part of its continuous support of youth and sports events in the Kingdom, PepsiCo-Jordan extended its support to the Dead Sea Ultra Marathon, which was held by Run Jordan under its banner ‘Run for a Cause’ on Friday 14 April, 2017.

The event, which urged participants to ‘run to the lowest point on Earth’, consisted of four separate races: A 50-km ultra marathon, 21-km half marathon, a 10-km fun run and a 4.2-km race for children, which occurred one week before the main event on 7 April, 2017.

As part of its sponsorship of the major event, PepsiCo-Jordan served as the Ultra Marathon’s official and exclusive source of pure drinking water. Throughout the race, which drew the participation of a large number of runners of spanning a wide range of ages and nationalities, PepsiCo-Jordan distributed its Aquafina bottled water to runners, spectators, organizers and staff.

“Our ongoing partnership with Run Jordan reflects our commitment to support all types of sporting events, as well as our continuous efforts to give back to noble humanitarian causes,” commented Eng. Nidal Hamam, General Manager of PepsiCo-Jordan. “The Ultra Marathon is a meeting point for a diverse group of runners, including professionals and amateurs as well as runners from within Jordan and abroad, which strengthens their spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition. We are pleased to be a part of this platform encouraging all members of society to get running, thereby moving toward the development of a society that is healthy, strong and capable of effecting positive change as future leaders.”

Background Information

Pepsi Cola International

In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.

For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
