PepsiCo-Jordan sponsors Samsung Amman International Marathon 2016 for fifth consecutive year

Reaffirming its ongoing commitment to support youth and sport in the Kingdom, PepsiCo-Jordan continued its Silver Sponsorship of the Samsung Amman International Marathon 2016 for the fifth consecutive year. The marathon, now in its eighth year, took place on Friday 28 October, 2016, and consisted of a 10-km race, a 21-km race and a 42-km race, as well as a shorter children’s race that was held one week prior to the main event on 21 October, 2016.
By virtue of the agreement, which was signed by PepsiCo-Jordan General Manager, Eng. Nidal Hamam, and Run Jordan General Manager, Lina Kurd, in May 2016, PepsiCo-Jordan acted as the marathon’s official and exclusive distributor of bottled water, providing Aquafina pure drinking water to the races’ participants.
On the occasion, Eng. Hamam said, “We cherish the fruitful partnership that we continue to share with the Association of Run Jordan, which is driven by its slogan ‘Run for a Cause’. We share a common vision with the Association, as we both aim to motivate community members of different age groups to exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle, creating a generation of professional runners. Our ongoing support of this marathon underscores our constant efforts to provide a helping hand to sports programs and activities that support humanitarian and charitable causes.”
Background Information
Pepsi Cola International
In 1965, Donald Kendall, the CEO of Pepsi-Cola, and Herman Lay, the CEO of Frito-Lay, recognized what they called “a marriage made in heaven,” a single company delivering perfectly-salty snacks served alongside the best cola on earth. Their vision led to what quickly became one of the world's leading food and beverage companies: PepsiCo.
For more than 50 years, as tastes, trends and lifestyles have changed, PepsiCo has evolved with them. Our willingness to adapt and grow has transformed our snack and soda company into a collection of global brands including Pepsi and Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, Frito-Lay and beyond. Today, PepsiCo is one of the world’s most-respected companies with products sold in more than 200 countries and territories and 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
