Porsche underlines future technology at Dubai International Motor Show

Porsche will emphasize its “Intelligent Performance” at the Dubai International Motor Show (November 10-14), with the display of the racing laboratory 918 RSR and new 911 Carrera.

Porsche Intelligent Performance revolves around three tenets: innovative strength, technological leadership, environmental friendliness and safety.

While the company is renowned for producing some of the world’s most iconic sports cars, the auto maker’s engineers are committed to incorporate this eco-philosophy into each new vehicle.

Visitors to the Porsche stand during the show will be able to experience the cutting edge of Porsche Intelligent Performance live with the 918 RSR on display.

The mid-engine coupe features a V8 engine offering an output of precisely 563 hp at 10,300 rpm. The electric motors on the two front wheels each contribute 75 kW, i.e. a total of 150 kW, to the peak drive power of exactly 767 hp. Put simply, when the 918 RSR brakes, electricity is made and stored in the flywheel accumulator. This energy is used to support the engine, whilst saving fuel and increasing the overall efficiency.

But also Porsche’s regional debut model, the new 911 Carrera, reveals the philosophy in action. The dramatically re-designed 911 features an athletic 350 hp 3.4-litre boxer engine, which consumes a mere 8.2 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres - that’s 1.6 litres per 100 km less than its predecessor.

And with an emission level of 194 g/km CO₂, it is the first Porsche sports car to make it below the 200 g/km mark.

The all-new, lightweight body is an intelligent aluminium-steel construction, providing an overall weight reduction of up to 45 kilogrammes, and significantly greater rigidity.
