PwC Middle East Team Members Completed the Everesting Challenge During Dubai 30x30
Six cyclists from PwC Middle East completed the Everesting Challenge at Jebel Jais last weekend as part of Dubai fitness challenge 30x30.
The team crossed the finish line at Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday morning after 26+ hours of cycling to the equivalent elevation of Mountain Everest (8,849 metres) and Everest Base camp (4425 metres). The team members covered 1,449 km total, cycling non-stop, with minimal breaks and in a repetitive loop of the same strip of hill resulting in 12 times up Jebel Jais for those who reached full elevation or 6 times for those who reached Base Camp. This has been achieved impressively after less than four months of training.
Hamish Clark, Chief Wellness Officer at PwC Middle East said: “A big congratulations to our Everesting team for achieving this really tough challenge! It shows what you can accomplish with dedication, positivity and commitment. At PwC Middle East we want our people to prioritise their wellness and invest in serving our communities.”
Olga Zolotova, Manager at PwC Middle East added: “We’re very proud to complete the Everesting challenge on the sidelines of the Physical challenge for Dubai 30x30. Most of us had cycled for less than a year and have achieved what is popularly referenced as the hardest cycling challenge in the world. Also, we’re very excited to announce that we are the first team to ever attempt this challenge as a corporate firm with two out of three females in UAE to have ever completed the full climb.”
Everesting is the ultimate cycling challenge, with only 8,700 people in the world who have completed the full elevation since 1994. It is an internationally recognised challenge and all attempts are verified via Strava records and signed off before being listed on the Everesting website. The challenge set out to raise money to fund four physiotherapy equipment for the Dubai Centre for Special Needs (Islamic Affairs And Charitable Activities Department Permit #4037). The team members who took part in the challenge are Elizabeth Harkness, Senior Manager, Olga Zolotova, Manager and Roland Hancock, Partner completing the full Everest and Leila Panju, Andrew Garret and Imran Jaffar, reaching the Base Camp.
