Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), has witnessed continued growth for passenger traffic (PAX) and aircraft movement (ACM) at QAIA in May 2014.

During May of this year, PAX rose by 13.2% to reach 605,564 PAX while ACM increased by 9.9% to reach 6,323 ACM compared to the same month in 2013. Since the beginning of 2014 and up until May, year-to-date (YTD) PAX figures were up by 13.6% and ACM figures surged by 8.5% as opposed to the same period during 2013, registering 2,888,458 PAX and 29,476 ACM.

“This month’s positive results were led by the rise in flights to and from Doha, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, London, Tripoli, Erbil and Riyadh. Additionally, public holidays during the month occurred as extensions to weekends, hence resulting in a larger number of Jordanians vacationing in leisure destinations such as Sharm El Sheikh and Istanbul,” stated AIG CEO Kjeld Binger.
