Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara sponsoring The Emirati Rally Driver “Ahmed Al Fahim”

Qasr Al Sarab, Desert Resort by Anantara today announced sponsoring the Emirati rally driver, Ahmed Abdelkareem Al Fahim for participating in the world’s ultimate desert rally, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2012 held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, being held from March 30^th to April 6^th in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Al Fahim holds a proven track of sports record achievements at the local, regional and international levels. His last engagement was in Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in 2010, when he was competing in motorcycle speedway category, in which he achieved ​​an advanced rival in comparison to many other participants. This season, he decided to run into a new challenge through the transition from the world of motorcycling to the world of four-wheel drive cars.

Getting started for the competition, Ahmad Al Fahim said: "As a personal initiative, I started the preparations a year ago by processing my vehicle according to safety and security specifications and measures in-line with the criteria of desert rally approved by the International Federation of Motorsports. As I continually self-training in weekends in the massive desert of the UAE, I’m looking forward to participate and win by achieving an advanced place in Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2012, and I hope this challenge is a first step towards my future participation in the International Paris/Dakar Rally. I’m thankful to Qasr Al Sarab for their support, which reflects the management’s care and interest in encouraging national cadres”.

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge bypasses 2,000 kilometers of the grueling geographic terrain around the dazzling desert areas passing by five major natural and tourism landmarks across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including "Yas Marina Circuit", "Al Fursan Club", "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque", "Moreeb Dunes". In addition to "Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort" in the Liwa desert of the Empty Quarter, one of the largest sandy deserts featuring a number of the highest sand dunes in the world.

Within the preparations for the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, Al Fahim participated recently in Umm Al Quwain Rally Desert, in which he achieved the winning of the first place in the October 2011 challenge, and the third place in the November 2011 challenge.
