Qatar Foundation advances children’s health through collaboration with top paediatric hospital

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is contributing to the advancement of pediatric care to improve the lives of families in Qatar. Earlier today MrsMary Jo Haddad, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) from Canada, visited QF to further their discussion in the field of paediatric care.

Mrs Haddad met with Dr Fathy Saoud, President of Qatar Foundation and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Governors for Sidra Medical and Research Center (SMRC) and Chairman of the Executive Committee to discuss issues of mutual concern in the field of paediatrics. She was accompanied by a delegation, including Mr Robert Harding, Chair, Board of Trustees at the Hospital for Sick Children.

SickKids is a healthcare, teaching and research centre dedicated exclusively to advancing paediatric care globally. As part of this commitment, the institution’s leadership signed an agreement in June of last year to provide advice and support to SMRC’s clinical and research programmes.

The hospital is a highly recognised academic and medical centrethat can not only advance paediatrics but also biomedical research at Qatar Foundation,” explained Dr Saoud. “Sick Kids has been selected as a strategic clinical research partnership with Qatar Foundation’s flagship project, Sidra Medical and Research Center, and its valuable contribution is greatly appreciated.”

Consideredone of the most elite centres in the field of medicine and children’s health, Sick Kids has been recognised as the top paediatric hospital in Canada.In addition to its collaboration with SMRC, it offers strategic assistance to Hamad Medical Corporationin order to further Qatar’s current research into transforming healthcare for children.

Mrs Haddad was appointed President and CEO of Sick Kids in 2004. Prior to joining the hospital in 1984, she boasts a distinctive career in healthcare and is recognised for her innovative leadership and commitment to paediatrics.
