Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) to promote the positive values of Tarsheed, the national campaign for the conservation and efficient use of water and electricity.

The MoU was signed by Rashed Al-Qurese, Deputy Director of Communication at Qatar Foundation, and Engineer Ali Mohammed Al-Ali, Manager of the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department at Kahramaa.

Tarsheed, was launched last April under the patronage of His Highness the Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The five-year campaign aims to increase environmental awareness and educate the public about the importance of consuming resources wisely. By partnering with Qatar Foundation, Kahramaa looks forward to generating a meaningful response from the community and hopes to eliminate wasteful practices across all segments of society.

In accordance with the agreement, Qatar Foundation will help facilitate Kahramaa’s noble mission by hosting several joint activities to mark Earth Day tomorrow (April 22). Qatar Foundation and Kahramaa are inviting members of the community to visit their booth at Landmark Mall on 23 April and at the Villagio Mall on 24 April to learn more about conservation efforts through a number of exciting activities such as quizzes, fun-filled games for children, and educational lectures. Several prizes will be awarded to members of the public.

Qatar Foundation is keen to demonstrate its ongoing support for the campaign by encouraging community members to develop a new mindset and to acquire the tools they need to teach younger generations about environmental conservation and the significance of building a sustainable future. A decree will also be circulated across all leading organisations in Qatar as a symbolic commitment to better practices of conservation and to the campaign.

Tarsheed presents a significant opportunity for organisations and individuals to join in the national effort to protect the country’s resources and reduce water and electricity consumption. Kahramaa is appealing to all Qatar’s residents to take an active role in the campaign so as to ensure Tarsheed’s success and the realisation of Qatar’s National Vision.
