To celebrate the nation’s second annual National Sports Day, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is hostinga variety offun-filled sporting activities on its campus. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

With thephysical well-being of Qatar’s population identified asa top priority under the issuing of Amiri Decree No. 80 2011, Qatar Foundation has remained steadfast in its determination to meet this ambitious agenda.Next week’s sporting programmewill encourage the pursuit of healthy lifestylesand physical fitnessby making exercise enjoyable and family-friendly.

Throughout the day, a number ofcompetitions and tournaments will take place across five main sites at QatarFoundation. Events include running and cycling races, football and cricket matches, golf lessons and karate classes, and many more besides. Specific competitions will be organized for those with special needs.

Entertainment will also be availablefor children of all ages, through activities such as mini tennis, face painting and balloon twisting.

Al Shaqab, Qatar Foundation’s equestrian venue, will host severalpresentations includinga pure bred Arabian horse show, an impressive tour of its world-class facilities, and pony rides for youngsters.

Held on the second Tuesday of February every year, the public holiday is inspiring Qatar’s population to enjoy athletics while raising awareness of the importance of physical health. Qatar Foundation places great emphasis on the nation’s overall welfare, and, consequently, is committed to the vision of fostering a sport-loving society.
