Qnrf Announces Winners of 22nd Undergraduate Research Experience Program Cycle

Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has announced the winners of its 22nd Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) cycle. A total of 33 research proposals have been awarded grants from 97 submissions by student teams attending eight universities across Qatar.
This latest UREP cycle will engage 156 undergraduate students and 73 faculty members and mentors. Of the 33 awards, 24 went to Qatar University, four to Texas A&M University at Qatar, and two to Georgetown University in Qatar. The remaining three grants were awarded to Northwestern University in Qatar, University of Calgary – Qatar, and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar.

First launched in 2006, UREP is QNRF’s longest running program. To date, more than 3,200 students have taken part in UREP, with teams of students from universities across Qatar conducting research under the mentorship of their professors, in areas of direct relevance to the Qatar National Research Strategy (QNRS).
Grants awarded under the 22nd UREP cycle address the various pillars of the QNRS as follows: 12 in energy and environment; 7 in health; 9 in social sciences, arts and humanities; and 5 in computer science and information and communication technology.
