Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman recently hosted the first GCC Ecotourism Conference at the property’s Majestic Ballroom, on 30th and 31st March, as part of the ongoing UAE Green Festival.

The conference, which was attended by GCC government bodies, corporate stakeholders, and international associations and delegates, discussed the challenges related to Ecotourism in the GCC, and tackled various components of the hospitality and tourism sector.

The property’s General Manager, Iftikhar Hamdani, spoke about the importance of waste management in the hospitality sector and shared the various green initiatives of the hotel. The other topics of the conference include efforts exerted to preserve wildlife and biodiversity, Green Globe practices and creation of an eco-friendly hotel brand, and the importance of engaging travellers in sustainability, among others.

Hamdani commented, “We are proud to be chosen as host of the inaugural GCC Ecotourism Conference. It provided a strategic platform to address different issues which can provide long-term impact to our industry. Through this, all of us are now more informed not just of the challenges, but also the solutions toward a more sustainable tourism.”
