The Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce launched 14 initiatives during its celebration of International Day of Happiness in the Chamber’s headquarters, supporting ‘happiness activities’ and spreading the concept of happiness and bringing it to life in their initiatives .

Mohammed Hassan Al Sabab, Director General of the RAK Chamber, said that happiness is a requirement, a desire and a basic need pursued by everybody, something that is sought after in many fields. The UAE has achieved for its people and residents the highest standards of living, security and stability, and is able to embark on transforming happiness as an ideal into the reality of a happy society. There are three main domains in the Happiness and Positivity Program: the inclusion of happiness and positivity in the policies, programs and services of all government programs and related work environment; the instilment of happiness and positivity values as a lifestyle; and the development of benchmarks and methods for measuring happiness in the UAE society. The RAK Chamber therefore strives to achieve the needed requirements for promoting a spirit of happiness and positivity for its clients and employees. We launched the Chamber’s initiatives for happiness and positivity to coincide with International Day of Happiness. The Chamber has also created a “Client Happiness Center” and the position of “Happiness Executive Director”, in addition to renaming “Client Service Executive” as “Client Happiness Executive”.

Eiman Darwish Al Hayyas, Assistant General Manager, Support and Institutional Services Sector, and CEO of Happiness and Positivity at the Chamber, said that happiness initiatives include a “Happiness Index”, which measures employees’ happiness in four areas (occupational happiness, employee satisfaction, occupational synergy, occupational loyalty), and “An Hour of Happiness”, which is an initiative that is run by the Chamber’s various departments and sections monthly, on an alternating basis. The initiative aims to make employees happy and increase their satisfaction levels at work.

Iman added that the Chamber had launched another initiative “An Undertaking of Happiness” (which aims to make employees sign a happiness undertaking), and issued innovative happiness and positivity brochures. These are in addition to the “Exchange Gifts to Love One Another” initiative, recreational trips organized by the Chamber for employees and their families, as well as the “Stars of Happiness” application (through which points are collected for employees based on their performance), and the initiative “An Undertaking of Health” (given the close connection between health and happiness). This initiative aims to improve the health of anyone wishing to participate in the program and help them to increase performance levels thus creating a healthier and happier society. There is also the “Tree of Wishes” Initiative, an innovative box in which the wishes of all the Chamber’s employees are placed. These are some of the many initiatives that aim to develop our services in line with the ambitions and expectations of the public, and increase happiness levels for our clients.
