Rasasi Perfumes participates at the Anti-commercial counterfeiting expo

Rasasi Perfumes, one of the leading names in the regional retail landscape offering a wide and exquisite range of Oriental and Western fragrances, showcased its collection of genuine, world-class Oudh at the Abu Dhabi Anti-Commercial Counterfeiting Exhibition in the UAE capital.
Organized by Department of Economic Development, the exhibition was held at the Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi & Al Ain Mall, from December 10 to 19, 2013.
The exhibition was aimed at making consumers aware on ways to identifying genuine products and avoiding counterfeits. Among the various exhibits displayed by Rasasi was its Agarwood collection, where the company showcased ways to identify genuine quality Agarwood from the counterfeits.
Mr. Salim Kalsekar, Managing Director of Rasasi Perfumes, said: “The perfume industry is growing significantly in the region, and it is easy to find imitative fragrances. There are generally three types of fake perfumes – those displaying a reasonable standard of fake packaging; look-alikes which are similar, but not identical; and cheap replicas claiming a false origin. As one of the leading players, we are committed to the cause of anti-counterfeiting, and hence we showcased our products at this exhibition.”
Counterfeiting is a well-advertised problem in the perfume industry. Ninety per cent of fakes are sold on the grey market through alternative channels such as street traders and smaller shops at bargain prices.
The company’s business has grown steadily since its inception three decades ago and currently operates over 115 stores across the region. Rasasi manufactures a wide range of Oriental and Western perfumes with a strong distribution network spread across the world and a retail network throughout the Middle East.
