Rixos relay race for National Day

Members of staff and the management team of Rixos The Palm descended onto the Palm Jumeirah’s Eastern Crescent to take part in a relay race in celebration of the UAE’s 44^th National Day.

Each team, consisting of 7 contestants to represent the 7 Emirates, ran a distance of over half a kilometer carrying a UAE flag which was passed from one person to another – until they reached the end point at Rixos The Palm Dubai.

The winning team was presented with medals and a special lunch in the resort’s staff restaurant where further celebrations continued. Decorated from floor to ceiling with National Day Flags, the staff restaurant turned into a party with Emirati music and a selection of traditional foods including lamb ouzi, Oriental rice, mezze and umm ali. 

Feras Salibi, Cluster Director of HR for Rixos Hotels in the UAE commented: ‘We feel that it is really important for our colleagues to be involved in such a culturally significant occasion and to truly celebrate the Spirit of the Union of the country in which we live. Our team members had such a great day and especially those who are experiencing the National Day for the first time.’

Guests also enjoyed a special Emirati themed brunch in A La Turca restaurant and a family style BBQ on the beach at iChill restaurant. The hotel’s lobby turned into a favorite spot for selfies - next to the central plant display which was full of hand painted stones in the colours of the National flag.
