Three Royal Jordanian Airbus 320s transported more than 450 Jordanians who used to reside in Yemen back home, with two planes landing at Queen Alia International Airport on April 7 and one on April 6.

Acting President/CEO Captain Haitham Misto said that this move was done in response to King Abdullah’s directives to help Jordanians return to their country safely. During this period, three charter flights were operated in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that arranged the evacuation of the citizens from Yemen to Jizan, the westernmost corner of Saudi Arabia, overland across Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Misto added that RJ coordinated with the aviation authorities and the Saudi air navigation officials to give RJ aircraft permission to transport Jordanians from Jizan Airport to Amman. He expressed RJ’s readiness to operate more charter flights in the coming days to bring home Jordanian citizens residing in Yemen, either from Saudi Arabia or from any other country neighbouring Yemen.

Captain Misto stressed that RJ is always keen to serve Jordanian citizens anywhere in the world, as part of its mission, responsibility and national duty as the national carrier of Jordan.

RJ suspended its services to Sanaa and Aden effective February 17 this year. It used to operate seven weekly regular flights to the capital Sanaa and four weekly flights to Aden.
