ROSATOM’s overseas orders worth $ 300 billion and growing – Kirienko

ROSATOM, Russia’s state nuclear corporation’s orders include contracts for the construction of 30 nuclear power units in 12 countries, with other 10 powers units currently under negotiation, ROSATOM CEO Sergey Kirienko said during an official meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
He added that ROSATOM’s stock of orders totals $ 300 billion and continues to grow.
According to Kirienko, ROSATOM held negotiations with all of its partners during the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conference. “It is important to note that the interest in nuclear energy not merely persists but is actually growing. Our stock of orders has increased 5.5 times over the past several years and currently includes 30 nuclear power units in 12 countries; other 10 powers units are under negotiation. Knock on wood, but we are now also negotiating with five more countries,” he said.
ROSATOM CEO pointed out that the company has not lost a single open tender over the past few years. “We have won all open tenders that were announced. It’s owing to these tender bids that our orders increased 5.5 times, totaling $ 300 billion and growing. It’s our goal over the coming years to keep our stock of orders growing further,” said Kirienko.
ROSATOM CEO also noted that cooperation in the nuclear industry contributes to furthering relations between countries in a long-term perspective, as nuclear power unit construction takes between 7 and 10 years, followed by NPP servicing and maintenance. The warranty service time for modern NPPs is 60 years; while in actuality they can remain in use for as long as 100 years.
According to the ROSATOM’s presentation in August 2015, the company can see its overseas orders portfolio to increase from $ 101.4 billion in 2014 to $ 150 billion by 2020.
