Samsung Electronics Levant, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced for the 2nd consecutive year “Baktob Bil Arabi” initiative; to enrich online Arabic content by encouraging the social media community to use their mother language; Arabic, in their communication.

“Baktob Bil Arabi” initiative launch is synced with the World Arabic language Day, marked on the 18th of December of each year and initiated by UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Celebrating this occasion, Samsung Electronics Levant launched a dedicated website for this initiative (http://www.ketabatona.com) to encourage people to share their own writings in various fields of interest. The website is designed to become a vast and go-to platform for Arabic content. In addition to that, Samsung launched a Facebook application that allows users to change their profile pictures into their names in Arabic in styles they can customize.

By uploading the Arabic content onto the website, Samsung Electronics Levant will promote this content from various fields, and upload it on Wikipedia, each under its owner’s name, to emphasize on the Arabic language role in civilization development.

Fadi Abu Shamat, ‎Head of Retail & Corporate Marketing at Samsung Electronics Levant commented on this initiative by saying: “We at Samsung Electronics Levant are determined to continue with this initiative in an effort to encourage people to write in Arabic more often. As statistics show that Arabic content is decreasing, with a percentage of 0.89% in comparison with the global content. In addition to the lack of reliable and trusty resources despite the ever-growing number of Arabic speakers on social media.”
