Saudia Adds 300 Hours of Recreation Content on Its Planes
SAUDI Arabian Airlines has provided 300 additional hours for various air recreation content on board its planes starting last May 2017. And by the end of 2017, Saudia intends to increase the volume of recreation content to 3,000 hours. It is also scheduled to set up an electronic library beginning July 1.
The 300 additional hours of recreation content has brought the total number of recreation hours to 1,800, with a 50 percent increase compared to the number of hours at the beginning of this year.
This step aims at continuous development and improvement of services on board Saudia flights so that the passenger’s travel experience on board the national carrier is unique and enjoyable.
The air recreation content on board Saudia’s new fleet includes various programs; a package of 208 Islamic programs, a diverse package of Arabic and English movies, over 500 TV programs, 50 children’s movies and programs and 38 games.
The passenger can create a link via Bluetooth between his smart phone and the screen and listen to the audio files content via the air recreation system.
Saudia has provided power outlets and the means to charge electronic devices. The passenger can take advantage of the ‘Plug and Play’ system for showing files through USBs in order to follow business and see all personal files via the air recreation system.
Saudia also provides a wireless recreation system on board its regional Airbus A330-300 aircraft and Airbus A320 planes allotted for domestic and regional flights. The passenger can take advantage of this service by downloading the Saudia SkyFi application on his smart devices before boarding the Saudia plane.
The app is available on App Store and Google Play. It functions by linking to the Internet on board the aircraft before takeoff. Then the guest can view the recreation content provided on board through his personal device.
Dr. Fahd Bin Ibrahim Al-Jarbou, vice president for product marketing and management at Saudi Arabian Airlines for air transport, said recreation content on board Saudia planes is witnessing a qualitative change in recreation concept.
Dr. Al-Jarbou said this is being achieved by setting up an electronic library so as to spread knowledge and culture. The library will be available by July 1. In the initial stage it will have over 100 books in various fields including religion, science and economics, apart from booklets for kids.
He added that before the end of 2017, Saudia is scheduled to increase the volume of recreation content on its fleet to 3000 recreation hours with an increase of 150 percent in less than a year. This step confirms the importance of continuous development and improvement of this service.
The future plan for 2018 includes increasing the recreation to 4000 hours of continuous and various recreation, Dr. Al-Jarbou said.
