Sharjah Media City (Shams) Runs Breast Cancer Screenings for All Its Employees and Visitors ”
Sharjah Media City (Shams), in cooperation with Pink Caravan, carried out early-detection screenings for breast cancer for its female employees and visitors, in line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in October. Whilst the Pink Caravan – a part of Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FOCP) initiatives that falls under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah – was at Shams’ headquarters. An invitation has been also extended to all female entrepreneurs of Shams for the screenings.
H.E. Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams), said, “We are happy to cooperate with Pink Caravan, which aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, and the importance of early detection. Pink Caravan has been providing free screenings to the community for ten years, and thanks to the culture of cooperation and continuous support, the initiative has turned into a distinctive volunteer campaign.”
He continued, “In line with our social responsibility at Shams, and as part of our concern for the health of the entire community, we acknowledge the importance of continuing to work together with Pink Caravan to encourage screenings as means of early detection and prevention.”
He pointed out that the Pink Caravan is under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the support and guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP), International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC.
Shams was previously a strategic partner of the tenth edition of the Pink Caravan Ride that began last February, and toured all cities and regions of the Emirates with the slogan "Plenty is not Enough", to spread awareness about the risks of breast cancer, and the need for early detection.
Her Excellency Reem BinKaram, Chairperson of PCR Higher Steering Committee, said: “Pink Caravan’s strategy of going beyond awareness creation to pair education with action is what led us to Sharjah Media City (Shams), to offer free breast cancer screenings for all its employees and clients.”
She added: “As a strategic partner of the 10th edition of the Pink Caravan Ride, Shams played a significant role in supporting our efforts to spread awareness about the risks of breast cancer and the need for early detection and treatment of the disease. We applaud their commitment to safeguarding their employees and even their clients from the risks of breast cancer by enabling their access to our screening and early detection efforts. It is in collaboration with likeminded partners like Shams who take keen interest in fulfilling their social responsibility that the Pink Caravan is working to a healthier and more cancer-aware UAE community.”
