Sharjah Museums Department marks Traffic Week at Sharjah Discovery Centre

As part of its initiative "Because We Care", Sharjah Museums Department (SMD), in cooperation with Sharjah Transport, yesterday celebrated the Gulf Traffic Week under the slogan "Working Together to Curb Traffic Accidents" with a series of activities, at Sharjah Discovery Centre.
SMD hosted around 35 school children from the Sharjah Model School out of its keenness to support the second nationwide traffic awareness launched by the Ministry of Interior as part of its celebration of the Gulf Traffic Week in line with the ministry's strategic plan to curb traffic accidents and ensure traffic safety in the country's streets.
SMD's interest in organizing this event comes within the framework of its initiative "Because We Care" which focuses on diversifying its community activities and out of its belief in the importance of traffic safety in our daily life as well as of the community's contribution to increasing traffic awareness by focusing on the bringing up of children within their surrounding environment.
The event, which was aimed at increasing the awareness of school children about traffic safety, featured edutainment programs on the importance of abidance by safety rules while getting on and off school buses, as well as presentation about bus safety and general traffic rules in a useful and entertaining style and through various amusing competitions. The school children applied what they have learnt on a bus model. The Sharjah Discovery Centre distributed medals bearing the event's slogan and booklets to children so as to help bring up a fully aware generation of traffic rules and safety.
SMD thanked all those who organized the event and Sharjah Transport for its constructive and fruitful cooperation and its valuable initiaves which would help improve the traffic awareness of younger generations.
SMD expressed its complete willingness to continue to cooperate with Sharjah Transport and all government departments for organizing these activities.
