Highlights
For the first time in Egypt, Siemens Healthineers will demonstrate the MAGNETOM Free.Max, the world’s first 80cm wide-bore system that aids in MRI scanning and best solution to enhance access to care, especially in rural areas.

Al Manara International Conference Center in Cairo will be hosting the newly introduced Africa Health ExCon, a healthcare exhibition and conference, aiming to position Africa as the continental hub for health innovations and trade and to provide a platform to improve access to care and to promote Africa’s investment potential.

The Congress is organized by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA) under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to serve as an annual forum, creating a sustainable platform connecting healthcare buyers, suppliers, governmental entities, industry leaders and health care partners to interact together.

During first day of the exhibition, President El-Sisi passed by the Siemens Healthineers booth, which will showcase the latest cutting-edge medical equipment. Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical technology, will also offer certified and accredited training programs to medical staff during the event.

Ole Per Maloy, CEO Siemens Healthineers, Middle East and Southern and Eastern Africa remarked, “With an increase in population and rising rates of non-communicable diseases, there is a growing need for further improving healthcare in Middle East and Africa. There has been significant progress in the recent years, but basic medical care on offer is still not enough to meet the need.” He continued, “At Siemens Healthineers and together with our colleagues at Varian, we are committed to improving access to care for everyone, everywhere and across our entire range of solutions: In Diagnostic Imaging, Cancer Care, Digital Health and Laboratory/Molecular Diagnostics. With this ambition, countries in Middle East and Africa, especially Egypt, are a key focus for us. We are determined to deliver improved quality care to the local communities and to further develop the skills of the resident medical staff by means of training and education”.

In Equipment Hall 2, and for the first time in Egypt, Siemens Healthineers will demonstrate the MAGNETOM Free.Max, the world’s first 80 cm wide-bore system that aids in MRI scanning for people who are obese and/or claustrophobic, thereby improving the patient experience. The new state-of-the-art MRI breaks down the conventions by being lighter weighted and requires less infrastructure expenses which will support access to care to everyone, especially in the rural areas.

“For decades, Siemens Healthineers has been supporting the development of the healthcare sector in Egypt and across Africa with the latest technological advancements, treatment options and access to world-class medical expertise,” said Michael Schmermer, Managing Director, Siemens Healthineers, Egypt, Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan, and Libya. “Industry forums such as Africa Health ExCon are important opportunities to engage with other experts in specialized healthcare fields, share knowledge, and generate new ideas so that we can further enhance our efforts to improve healthcare access and outcomes for the benefit of millions of patients worldwide.”

Complementing the company’s portfolio, Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, will showcase their wide range of solutions in cancer treatment in Hall 2. Given a million new cancer cases per annum across the African continent, Varian will demonstrate how to realize their mission of “A world without fear of cancer”. Focus topics will be the importance of intelligent cancer care, the latest innovations in brachytherapy, as well as smart software solutions including a walk-up demo workstation.

As labs strive to meet continuous testing needs at a lower cost, they require adaptable solutions to the changing environment, which Atellica Labs systems provide due to its flexible, scalable, automation-ready immunoassay and chemistry analyzers. At Laboratory Hall 3, Siemens Healthineers will put the focus on some of its Atellica solution ranges and presenting the Atellica HEMA for the first time in Egypt with its unique quantitative multi-parameter, automated hematology analyzers for in-vitro diagnostic that is being used in screening patients’ populations found in clinical laboratories. During the event, Siemens Healthineers will offer CME-certified training sessions in the areas of cardiology, radiology, and laboratory diagnostics.
