SouqExtra!, the national chain of community supercenters, will hold blood donation camps at its Dubai outlets in December, encouraging individuals from the local communities to support the Dubai Blood Donation Centre (DBDC).

The Dubai Blood Donation Centre at Al Wasl Hospital is the central blood donation bank of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). It is the provider of blood and blood products for transfusions to all DHA hospitals, the Thalessemia Centre, Trauma Centre and several private hospitals in Dubai.

The donation camps will be held on December 12 from 1pm-6pm at the SouqExtra! Al Barsha Centre and on December 13 from 1pm-6pm at the SouqExtra! Al Qouz centre.

A mobile DBDC unit will be stationed in the parking lots of the two SouqExtra! centres on the designated dates and individuals are encouraged to support the drive by visiting the unit during the collection timings stated above.

“As a socially responsible member of the local community, SouqExtra! is privileged to have the means to support the Dubai Blood Donation Centre. We have been actively encouraging residents in the surrounding area to participate in the collection drive through distributing educational flyers in the past weeks that announce the camp dates as well as refute common misconceptions surrounding blood donation,” said Saleh Abdullah Lootah, Managing Director of SouqExtra!.

“As a location that enjoys high footfall, we hope that holding the camp at SouqExtra! outlets will boost the number of individuals who donate on the day, especially walk-in donors,” added Lootah.
