Kuwait Telecommunications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transformation in Kuwait, announced its sponsorship and participation in the 2nd International Conference and Forum on Assistive Technologies for Special Needs (ASTN’25). The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Amthal Al Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, the United Nations (UN), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with the honorary patronage from the National Diwan for Human Rights, and is co-located with the 10th International Conference on ICT Accessibility (ICTA’25). stc's participation in the conference further build on its ongoing commitment to enable digital transformation in Kuwait by providing technology and digital accessibility.
Participating speakers in the conference included H.E. Ambassador Ghada Eltahir, UN Resident Coordinator – State of Kuwait, Prof. Khaled Al-Begain, President of KCST, Dr. Khalifaa Al-Hila, Deputy Director General at the Public Authority for Disability Affairs (PADA), Eng. Anowd Muthaib, Chief Transformation and Synergies Officer at stc, with Faisal Al-Mousawi moderating the conference.
Taking place from December 7th to the 10th at the Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST), ICTA’25 and ASTN’25 welcomed a lineup of specialized entities from Kuwait and abroad operating within assistive technology, artificial intelligence, and inclusive digital education. The conference program covered a range of topics that included E-Accessibility and Inclusive Technologies, AI and Accessibility, Smart and Pervasive Systems for Accessibility, Open and Inclusive Digital Education, Emerging Trends in Computing and Accessibility, and Advanced Interfaces & Breakthrough Tech for Accessibility. These were discussed in workshops, panel discussion, and keynote speeches. The objective of the conference was to exchange global insights and promote innovative solutions that will promote greater inclusivity and accessibility to diverse technologies.

Throughout the event, stc participated in conference discussions on the role of assistive technologies in enhancing digital access, represented by Eng. Muthaib. She shared her insights on enabling technology-driven solutions that cater and empower individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the Company participated in the exhibition with a dedicated booth showcasing its digital solutions that enhance user accessibility, while highlighting stc’s broader strategy to enable digital transformation. stc launched an awareness campaign as well to support the cause across its digital platforms to encourage knowledge-sharing and community engagement surrounding this vital field.
stc emphasized that supporting platforms like ATSN’25 and ICTA’25 aligns with its strategic vision to strengthen digital inclusion, accelerate innovation, and contribute to building a more accessible future for individuals with special needs in Kuwait. The Company stated that such initiatives align with the core pillars of its comprehensive CSR and sustainability frameworks, highlighting that digital empowerment can significantly improve quality of life and provide learning opportunities for people with disabilities.
