The Support Service Sector organized a seminar on how to implement the Authority Matrix Guide

As a part of enhancing the skills of employees in the Procurement Section at the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), the Support Services Sector organized a seminar on the use of a new Authority Matrix in cooperation with the Department of Finance.

The seminar focused on the specifications of the Authority Matrix Guide in relation to purchasing procedures and privileges allocated to each person involved in the operation of procurement process. The participants had the chance to re-enforce their knowledge and skills related to the steps need to be taken when a purchasing order is placed. The new Authority Matrix Guide simplifies the process of procurement and makes it consist of 3 steps only; it begins with ordering the goods or services, by the user and then goes to the Head of section before it is passed to the accountant for approval and budget allocation.

The seminar was attended by the employees in the Accounting Department and Legal Affairs Section and Purchasing Section in the Support Services Sector and was presented by a specialized consultant at the Department of Finance.

This seminar comes in line with the DMA policy to enhance its Authority Matrix and decentralize the responsibilities of its employees, and enhance their skills using the most advanced Authority Matrix Guide and accounting and financial management processes which will in return enhance the mechanism of accounts and purchasing management, payments and expenditure and achieves good governance and financial management practice.
