Masood Al Awar, the CEO of TASWEEK Real Estate Marketing and Development, an advisor and solutions provider serving the property markets, recently met with Khalid Safir, Wali of Grand Casablanca, at the Wali’s Office to discuss the outcomes of the Smart Living City Dubai 2014 event held last September 2014 in Dubai and plans to organize a Casablanca edition in Q4 2015.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 4th GCC- Morocco Investment Forum & Expo that ran from November 28 to 29, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco. Al Awar discussed the opportunities and initiatives arising from Smart Living City Dubai 2014, an event that explored the role of smart technologies in the success of key industries ranging from real estate and finance to education and transportation.

Staging a Smart Living City expo in Morocco will bolster the integration of ‘smart’ technologies within the North African state’s key sectors – particularly real estate. It will also help spur more investments from global partners and uplift Morocco’s international appeal as a business and investment destination.

“Our meeting with Wali Safir opened up many exciting possibilities and will hopefully pave the way to Morocco’s own version of Smart Living City by late next year. We believe that, as a gateway to Africa, Morocco will emerge as an important market for establishing a strong ‘smart living’ niche in the region and will thus continue to be a preferred host to TASWEEK-related real estate developments,” said al Awar.

Both parties also discussed possible areas of cooperation and reviewed real estate activities and potentials in Casablanca and Morocco as a whole. TASWEEK is currently developing the USD 40 million Marrakesh Healthcare City residential and healthcare complex, one of the first healthcare investment initiatives in Morroco, in the country’s fourth largest city of Marrakesh.
