Thiqa participates in series of community engagement events for children with special needs
Staff from the National Health Insurance Company – Daman’s Thiqa participated in a series of social engagement activities with students of Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO). The activities come as part of a social responsibility program the company is actively involved with for children with special needs.
Over the past months 50 employees of Thiqa’s program organized a variety of initiatives to empower with special needs in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The program included educational activities, sponsoring events and initiatives, and supporting students in skills workshops to produce handmade goods for commercial use.
Daman’s Thiqa Director, Mr. Ahmed Al Neyadi, said: “Through our existing corporate social responsibility programs and our commitment to ZHO, we are paving the way to positive long-term change. We are very grateful for the ZHO centers for allowing us the chance to participate and get to know their students and we look forward to maintain our involvement with them moving forward,”
Thiqa has also worked with ZHO to sponsor and support a number of initiatives over the past months including 37th Arabian Deaf Week and supporting a visit to Disneyland Paris, France.
Al Neyadi added: “We hope to have a stronger role in supporting the active integration of the older students in the job market by offering them internships and vocational skills training.”
The series of initiatives have also extended to provide Daman and Thiqa employees with Sign language courses to better assist members with hearing and speaking disabilities.
Supporting ZHO follows a number of CSR activities Daman has undertaken in the past for children with special needs, which included revitalizing the premises of the Abilities Development Centre in Abu Dhabi.
