UAE students present award winning projects at ExxonMobil energy outlook forum

A number of students from Al Salam school for girls and Zayed University showcased their award-winning projects during their participation at ExxonMobil’s Energy Outlook Forum that was held as part of the World Future Energy Summit 2012.

Funded through a partnership between ExxonMobil and INJAZ-UAE, the presentations sparked thoughtful discussion at the forum and provided an opportunity for students to learn about ExxonMobil’s global energy challenges and solutions.

Morten Mauritzen, President of ExxonMobil Companies in Abu Dhabi, said: “Bringing the students into the forum and having them engage with our subject matter experts, as well as hear from other students who are studying the energy industry, created a lively atmosphere and exchange of ideas. These very engaging young people are the individuals that will help the world meet its future energy challenges.”

ExxonMobil organised the Energy Outlook Forum at WFES 2012 as a venue for participants to listen, learn and engage in discussions on the evolution of energy and examine the industry’s effort in turning energy challenges into energy solutions. The forum drew upon the perspectives of leaders from several of Abu Dhabi’s key institutions, including the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, Masdar and the Emirates Foundation.

Kathy Pepper, vice president for Middle East and Russia at ExxonMobil Production Company, thanked all of the ExxonMobil Energy Outlook Forum presenters and added: “Meeting future demand will require a mix of all sources of energy, and it is critical to engage in constructive dialogue about our energy challenges and how they will be met. I think we achieved these objectives at the forum this week.”

ExxonMobil executives who delivered presentations at the 2012 World Future Energy Summit were unanimous in their call that rapid adoption of energy efficiencies around the world and continued advancement of technologies to develop all sources of energy are essential if the world is to meet the expected growth in energy demand.
