unga president to speak about uniting the world for a sustainable future at QF talk

One of the world’s leading figures in diplomacy and global cooperation will discuss how nations can unite to find solutions to urgent sustainability challenges at Qatar Foundation.
The return of the Education City Speaker Series – a Qatar Foundation (QF) platform for dialogue that allows the public to hear from and interact with local, regional, and international thought-leaders and experts – for 2023 will see Csaba Kőrösi, President of the 77th United Nations General Assembly, explore the theme Solidarity, Sustainability, and Science: Solutions for a Brighter Future.
During the talk on Sunday, 5 March at the 2015 Building (Qatar Foundation Headquarters), he will explore how global collaboration can pave the way for a shared responsibility in tackling the impact of climate change. The session will be moderated by Dr. Marcello Contestabile, Principal Economist at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute, part of QF’s Hamad Bin Khalifa University.
Born in Hungary and a career diplomat, Mr. Kőrösi was co-chair of a United Nations General Assembly working group that produced the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. He is also a founding member of the Hungarian Scientific Panel on Climate Change, and a permanent invitee to the Presidential Committee on Sustainable Development at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the National Council on Sustainable Development at the Hungarian National Assembly.
Reflecting QF’s commitment to providing opportunities for dialogue and discourse on key topics shaping Qatar, the region, and the world, the Education City Speaker Series allows audiences to engage with experts with the aim of sparking conversations and broadening perceptions.
Topics which the Education City Speaker Series has tackled since its establishment have ranged from the future of education globally and in Qatar, youth empowerment, accessibility, innovation and entrepreneurship, and sustainability to the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health, and the occupation of Palestine, as well as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
