Visa launches its Utility Campaign in Jordan

Visa, the world’s leading payment solutions provider, recently launched its Utility Campaign in Jordan, offering cardholders the opportunity to use their debit and credit cards to pay their water and electricity bills. Back in May 2011, Jordan Utility companies including Jordan Water Co. Miyahuna LLCO and JEPCO started accepting payments with Visa Debit and Credit cards and this is already proving popular.
Through this partnership, Visa and its partner banks aim to provide the Jordanian community with a more efficient way to pay their utility bills, without the hassle of having to withdraw cash or even queue at the utility company offices. Cardholders can also track their bills and verify their transactions through their bank statements or using online banking services avoiding the worry of following up on their bills with the utility companies. .
Mr. Tony Gougassian, General Manager for Visa Levant, commented on this new initiative and partnership: “Visa recognizes the importance of every transaction on our network, and we invest significant resources to maintain the unmatched reliability and security of our network across the 200 countries and territories in which we do business. We provide our cardholders the best services offering convenience, safety and worldwide acceptance. This is just one example of our ongoing drive to continue to offer Visa Cardholder the test services and products. That is why we partner with financial institutions, governments, businesses and technology leaders to make our network smarter and more accessible to more participants.”
From September 5th 2011 till January 5th 2012, each time Visa Cardholders use their Visa Debit, Credit, or Electron card to pay water or electricity bills, they will be entered into a draw and offered the chance to be one of 3 lucky winners to win 1,000 JOD every month. Cardholders can increase their entries into the draw and chances of winning by paying both water and electricity bills through using their Visa cards each month.
There will be 4 draws in total within the campaign over the period. The draw date will be on the 20th of each month, starting October 20th, and ending January 20th. Draws will take place in Amman Jordan under the supervision of a representative from the Jordanian Municipality.
