VIVA, Kuwait’s newest and most advanced mobile telecommunications service provider, today introduced a new range of data roaming packages so customers can now enjoy VIVA’s roaming services while travelling abroad in more than 50 countries without having to worry about their bills. The global roaming rates will become effective starting 1 April 2012.

The new packages are a convenient and affordable way for postpaid and prepaid customers who are using either a BlackBerry device or other smartphone device to surf the internet while they travel in more than 50 destinations (selected countries and selected operators) and start from just KD 9 per week.

Salman Al-Badran, VIVA’s Chief Executive Officer at VIVA said: “With increasing capabilities and services, our customers are using mobile internet for business and social media usage more and more frequently than before, increasing their need to stay connected at all times, even when traveling. Our latest roaming rates have been designed to meet this demand both cost effectively and seamlessly.  With these packages, our customers can now enjoy roaming with VIVA in over 50 countries around the world knowing that they will not have to manage a huge unexpected bill on their return and without service interruption while they are abroad.”

All postpaid and prepaid customers with BlackBerry devices or other smartphones (Apple iPhone, HTC, Sansung, Nokia, etc.) can enjoy the “Global Roaming Surf-On” package in over 50 major destinations, spanning from USA to Thailand, and from Australia to South Africa.

With the Global Roaming Surf-On packages customers can, in addition to standard services such as making and receiving local and international calls, sending and receiving SMS text messages, call divert and the Missed Calls Alert Plus service, also check e-mail, read news, view content, send and receive MMS and use all data services. When mobile phones are switched on, Global Roaming Surf-On will automatically find an operator and customers can begin using their devices immediately.

The weekly “Global Roaming Surf-On” packages of 25 Mb cost KD 9, and 60 Mb at KD 18, while the monthly packages consist of 50 Mb at KD 18 and the 80 Mb at KD 30. For any additional internet usage during the validity period, customers will be charged 60 fills per 10kb.

For customers traveling to any of the selected GCC countries (UAE, KSA, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain), they can take advantage of the “GCC Roaming Surf-on’’ where packages start from KD1 per day for 5 Mb.

Customers can continue to enjoy VIVA’s extensive network of international roaming partners to stay in touch with friends, family or colleagues.
