W Doha calls on filmgoers to ‘Walk Amongst the Stars’

W Doha, style icon for entertainment in Doha, put out a call to all filmgoers and guests to ‘Walk Among the Stars’ during the  week of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. The exclusive display of exquisite celebrity portraits of idols like Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe were painted by celebrated French artist, Una St Tropez. The giant paintings with massive wow factor appeal portray an intensity of character that reveals the true nature of the legendary movie stars etched on their faces. 

Edgar Vaudeville, PR and Events Manager of W Doha, said: “The idea behind ‘Walk amongst the Stars’ was to stage a mind-blowing show in W Doha that gives visitors a unique experience to feel like a star amongst stars during the Film Festival.  Una St Tropez is a star in her own right, having put so many Hollywood greats on canvas. It is awesome that W can host her and her larger than life portraits to allow people to walk amongst such famous superstars.” 

Una St Tropez’s ‘Walk Amongst the Stars’ will involve portraits of Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, Steve McQueen and Marlon Brando on show in Doha for the first time.  

Una St Tropez admitted: “When I discovered Doha two years ago, I fell in love with the city. Full of contrast, it radiated a perfect peace despite being unknown and foreign to me.  It had a lot to do with W Doha as the ultimate destination to show my collection, as only W Doha could do it justice. With Walk Amongst the Stars, I hope to bring a little touch of the magic of St Tropez, the world’s most famous fishing village to W.” 

Una St Tropez’s artistic passions were ignited in 2000 as her first gallery was born in St Tropez in the south of France. Since then Una has caused quite a stir in the art world as her works are fast becoming collector’s items for royal families around the world in Monaco, Brunei, Saudi and the UAE as well as for celebrities, such as Eva Longoria and politicians like French President Nicolas Sarkozy.  

Una has worked mainly between Monaco, St Tropez, London and the Middle East, specializing in large size portraits of A-Lister luminaries using an ultra modern approach of textured acrylic on canvas, an ancient beeswax technique.  Una’s works have been commissioned for the likes of Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, CELINE, LANVIN, Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the Musee Guimet in Paris, Aberdeen Gallery Cork Street in London, Art Deco in Dubai, as well as for luxury super yachts, banks and leading hotels around the world. 

Una also specializes in private portraits which are brought to life using similar beeswax and acrylic techniques and can be up to 3 x 3 meters in size.
