Prima International (Middle East) FZE, a subsidiary of Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronic Co, Ltd. (Xoceco), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of colour TVs, has partnered with the Dubai Center for Special Needs (DSCN) to provide a platform for learning and development in the community.
Prima, which made its dynamic entry into the market in August 2004 with plasma and LCD TVs, is committed in aiding the development of individuals in all spheres of life. As such, its present focus has been to fulfil the urgent need for learning tools and equipment at the Dubai Center for Special Needs.
In an attempt to move away from more passive forms of donation, Prima instead chose to develop and execute the formation of a dedicated learning centre to cater to the needs of the DCSN and the community at large.
The ‘Prima Learning Center’, which was formally launched today (MONDAY), is furnished with learning tools and equipment to build the foundation of a unique centre for discussion and the promotion of a better understanding of the needs of special children. The ‘Prima Learning Center’ will be used for a number of different activities including the training and development of students and staff at DCSN, the hosting of guest speakers for community lectures and parent-staff interaction.
Speaking on the launch of the ‘Prima Learning Center’, Humphery Wen, Managing Director, Prima, said, “It is only through constant learning and growth that we can strive to make a difference, which is why we wanted to create a platform for the exchange of information and resources in the community. Our hope is that the ‘Prima Learning Center’ will flourish and be a shining example of the positive impact companies can have on the local community.”
He added that Prima had made its presence felt in the region’s electronics sector and it was now time to give back to the community and strengthen bonds with a region in which the company has enjoyed much success.
“The Dubai Center for Special Needs views the establishment of the ‘Prima Learning Center’ as a leap forward in terms of promoting the cause for special needs in the region and actively enlisting community support for this cause. Any charitable endeavour that seeks to involve the community will raise awareness for the cause, which is one of the most effective ways of helping to pave the way towards change,” said Dr. Mahshid Salehi, Director, Dubai Center for Special Needs.
