Swiftkey's latest update has removed the predictive text that let users find out information about other accounts. (tbreak)

Last month Swiftkey rolled out an update which would disable account syncing, however a bug in the upgrade raised some security red flags, which the new update will fix.

The previous update disabled account syncing, which led to some mixups. The predictive keyboard synced up with the wrong accounts, thus prompting users with incorrect autocomplete suggestions drawn from strangers’ typing habits. This led to some users getting access to personal information like email addresses or contact information.

Swiftkey jumped on it quickly, and disabled account syncing entirely before any harm could be done. Swiftkey also said that this particular problem only affected a few users but the concern was great enough that the team had to shut down account syncing across the board rather than risk a larger security concern. Developers have also isolated the root of this issue and pulled it out, so the next update will get the account sync again.

The rollout for the new update has just begun, so it will take a while to get to your device. You can check for it by going to the app in Google Play Store.
