Completed private sector construction projects in Dubai in 2001 were valued at 6.1 billion ($1.6 billion) Emirati dirhams by the Building Materials Trade and Manufacturing Business Group at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
Construction firms in Dubai completed 1,672 villas, 355 multi-storey commercial buildings and residences, and 418 industrial, recreational and services buildings last year, stated Member of the Board and Head of DCCI’s Economic Affairs and Commercial Activities, Anwar Gargash. DCCI membership representing the construction and real estate sector also grew from 1,721 members in 1997 to 2,582 last year. — (menareport.com)
