Qatar’s economy slightly grows in 1Q 2002

The Qatari economy grew by 1.8 percent in the first three months of 2002. The nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 13.9 million Qatari rials ($3.8 million) in the first quarter of the year, reported the Oman Arab Bank’s Investment Management Group (IMG)

 

The non-oil sector’s contribution to the GDP increased by 2.3 percent reaching QR13.9 million in the first quarter of the year while GDP from the oil and gas sector remained unchanged at QR 430 million during the same period. 

 

The Qatari government expects the economy to achieve stable growth over the next few years as billions of dollars will be invested in new liquefied natural gas projects to attain a targeted production of 30 million tons per year. — (menareport.com)
