The price of 418 consumer goods in Qatar has been reduced with effect from Sunday until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Ministry of Economy and Trade published the list of 418 consumer goods with the maximum allowed price of each.
The price reduction, in coordination with major hypermarkets, is in force from Sunday 21 May, 2017, until the end of Ramadan.
The Ministry has warned supermarkets that they will take strict action against people who will not abide by the price list and charge more. The ministry will conduct surprise checks to ensure that everyone follows the directive.
People can report violations to the ministry through their call centre: 16001 or through their social media pages.
This initiative comes within the framework of the initiatives of the Ministry of Economy and Trade during Ramadan. The idea behind the initiative is to relieve consumers of additional burden with during the holy month.
People tend to spend 25 percent of their income during Ramadan on consumer goods.
The list of products includes flour, sugar, rice, pasta, oil, milk and many other commodities.
